Consulting · retain, connect or develop
Where is custom software worth the investment?
Your business already has systems, agreements and people who understand the work. You also want to make something possible that those systems do not readily support. We establish what to build on, what to connect and where your own software can make a meaningful difference.
Four possible directions
Keep what already works.
Start with the role of each system
A manufacturer may be well served by its accounting software while needing a dedicated environment for dealers requesting non-standard configurations. Equally, custom development for a routine administrative task is not necessarily a good investment.
We examine what makes your business distinctive. Which commitments do customers value? What knowledge do employees need to deliver them? Then we assess where existing software supports the business and where it unnecessarily constrains how you work.
A decision you can invest in
A design for the application landscape
The role of existing and proposed applications, their main data and their connections. We identify which system owns information such as customer records, prices or availability. That makes the consequences of a change visible.
A reasoned comparison
Retain, configure, integrate, build or selectively replace. We compare relevant options against working practices, investment, running costs, dependencies and support. Development cost is only part of the decision.
A practical delivery sequence
A first usable release, subsequent stages and decision points. The investment estimate includes assumptions and dependencies, keeping a business ambition from quietly becoming a wholesale replacement project.
AI changes the options, not the need for sound decisions
AI can make custom software more accessible and provide new ways to use business knowledge. The business still needs clear rules for information, permissions and responsibility. We assess the whole solution, including testing, integrations, maintenance and everyday use.
For an AI application, we match the model to the task. A smaller model may be sufficient; a larger one needs to justify its additional cost. We prefer private hosting with open models, favouring European models where suitable. Processing location and ongoing operation are part of that choice.
An agent is not a requirement for an adaptable platform. What matters is that business rules are available outside individual screens. A portal, employee app and, when useful, an agent can then use the same controlled actions. Our AI approach explains those decisions.
Experience with new products and established environments
WorkVine combines its own product logic with payroll integrations, communications and digital signing. At a building materials supplier, we work on existing applications and cloud middleware alongside internal developers. These are different assignments, both requiring an understanding of what the business relies on.
We use that experience to develop a workable direction, not to recommend the same platform to every organisation. You can commission us, your own team or another partner to implement the plan.
If you already have a preferred direction, we can assess it. If the choice remains open, we start with your ambition and current systems. Discuss your software decision.
