WorkVine · product design and end-to-end development

Handle what you can yourself. Work together where it matters.

How can employees handle more themselves while HR and scheduling work within the same rules? We designed and built WorkVine as a complete product: the office application, mobile apps, cloud backend and connections to external services.

WorkVine Office: weekly scheduling with employees, shifts, leave, absence and location filters. Demo data.
For the schedulerStaffing, availability and absence in the same weekly view.
The WorkVine employee app shows personal shifts, times and location. Demo data.
For the employeeKnow when and where you are expected.

From recorded time to review

Information becomes useful when someone can act on it.

Here, an authorised user can select recorded hours, review them and approve or reject them. The record and the authority to act on it come together.

The business question behind the product

An employee wants to check a schedule or submit a request. A scheduler needs to assess availability, leave and staffing together. HR manages employee information and agreements that matter across the organisation.

The design challenge went beyond a digital personnel file. How should HR, scheduling, communication and development connect without giving everyone the same screen or permissions? How should the product work with services an organisation already uses?

One product, with a working environment for each role

Our responsibility covered product design, business logic, cloud architecture and development of the web application and iOS and Android apps. The office environment provides oversight of people and work. The employee app focuses on what someone needs to know and do for themselves.

The product screens above show three distinct activities:

On a small screen, scroll horizontally to read the full table.

Role What the application presents The decision it supports
Scheduler Shifts alongside availability, leave and absence Does staffing fit the work?
Employee A personal schedule with dates, times and locations When and where am I expected?
Authorised reviewer Recorded hours with approval and rejection actions Can this entry be approved?

The app is not a smaller administrative dashboard. Each role has its own way into the same product. These Dutch-language screens use demo data; the desktop views show an earlier version under the EenvoudigHR name.

Payroll, communication and signatures belong to the same workflow

WorkVine integrates with payroll platforms, Brevo for communication and Scribble for digital signatures. Those connections make specialist services part of the employee platform.

The engineering work extends beyond passing fields between systems. Employee information, a request or a document needs to retain its meaning within the product and the connected service. Product design and integrations are therefore part of the same responsibility.

An organisation can offer its own employee environment alongside specialist payroll, communication and signing services. Those services do not all need to be rebuilt to give people a coherent application.

Independence depends on the rules behind the interface

Viewing a schedule, submitting a request and approving hours are different permissions. Access to personal information should not imply access to every employee record or HR decision.

We designed user actions together with the business logic and cloud backend. That is where autonomy becomes practical: employees can act, while responsibilities remain clear for schedulers, managers and administrators.

Our pages on security and privacy and cloud architecture explain the engineering principles behind this approach.

What this enables for the organisation

Employees can check their own schedules and submit requests. Schedulers assess availability and staffing together. HR and administrators have an environment suited to their responsibilities, connected to the services the organisation uses.

The value lies in that connection: people have room to act without losing sight of shared rules. WorkVine demonstrates how business decisions, product design, mobile applications and integrations belong within one development engagement.

What this experience means for your project

A customer portal, employee platform or partner application raises similar questions: who is acting, on whose behalf, with what information and under which authority? Each business needs its own answers.

In an implementation engagement, we work through those relationships, test working increments with users and agree on rollout and ongoing development. WorkVine demonstrates the scope we can carry. It is not a template to impose on your company.
