Consulting · customer promise, operations and responsibility
What does your business need to make its next step work?
You want to take on more demanding orders, support dealers better or give teams greater independence. Sales, preparation, delivery and administration need to support that ambition together. We investigate what it takes with you and the people who know the work.
Design example · an unusual customer request
Know when to act and when to ask.
Follow the customer promise through the business
Consider a manufacturer offering changes to standard product specifications. Sales wants to advise the customer well. Production needs to assess feasibility, and purchasing needs to understand the components required. Who can decide independently, and when does a change affect the price or delivery date?
We follow these situations from enquiry to completion. We also examine what already works: how experienced employees handle exceptions, what knowledge they use and why customers value it. That expertise informs the design; it is not a deviation to remove from the process.
What the analysis gives you
A connected view of the work
The main steps, handovers and exceptions, with the roles and systems involved. You can see where an agreement loses its meaning, where information is missing and where collaboration already works well.
Clear authority to act
For important decisions, we establish who can act, what information they need and when to involve a colleague. We review this with employees. Responsibility needs to come with the means to exercise it.
Decisions and a workable first step
We distinguish changes to the offer, the organisation and the software. You receive reasoned priorities, dependencies and a defined next stage. Where a decision needs more investigation, we identify the evidence still required.
Investigate together, then test the proposal
We begin with the business question and examine actual orders, enquiries and exceptions. Leadership sets the direction; examples from everyday work reveal what that direction requires. Where relevant, we examine records in existing systems alongside the agreements that sit outside them.
We then test the proposed process against those situations. Can sales justify a commitment? Can a colleague assess an exception without calling the owner every time? Who helps when something falls outside the agreed authority? This tests both the organisation and its supporting systems.
For an incident-coordination platform, we analysed the existing application, documented processes and provided operational and technical recommendations. The engagement was for analysis and advice. It did not require a development commission.
Establish what people need before choosing the technology
Sometimes a different allocation of authority matters more than another screen. Sometimes existing information needs to be connected. If employees need to assess extensive documentation, AI may help prepare that assessment. We investigate it only where it contributes to the actual question.
The next step may be a software strategy, a change in working practices or a defined development engagement. The analysis stands on its own, with an agreed question, deliverables and involvement from your team.
Bring an ambition and two or three recognisable situations. We can discuss the scope of the analysis without first choosing a software package or technology.
